ABOUT RUSHING

HAZING POLICY

Alpha Gamma has a strict no hazing policy that is in compliance with Purdue laws as well as the national fraternity’s laws.

There is no need for hazing in APO as we encourage our cardinal principles of leadership, friendship, and service.

The Purdue Alpha Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Omega is one of the most active student organizations at Purdue.  Alpha Phi Omega is open to every Purdue Student with no discrimination whatsoever. Although we are called a service fraternity, we are for males and females. Students of every major and year are invited to join. Graduate Students are always welcome to join as well!

Alpha Gamma has hundreds of hours of service projects available every semester so it is one of the easiest ways available to help serve the community you’ll ever find. Alpha Gamma has over 100 active members and so it is also an extremely easy way to meet new people from every year and major at the University.

Pledging is one of the most fun experiences you will have at Purdue. With multiple opportunities for community service, making new friends, and getting involved in leadership positions that can expand your horizons, there are plenty of reasons to pledge! The pledge process for Alpha Phi Omega requires pledges toComplete 17 total projects across all of our project areas, attend the weekly meetings throughout the semester; obtain signatures from active members; there is also a pledge class executive board that pledges are encouraged to run for and will be voted on by pledges; we will also have plenty of great things to do for fun to make sure you have the best pledging experience including an overnighter! There are no bids or interviews; the only thing that is required to begin pledging is to attend our induction ceremony ("Tapout") in Stewart room G14. Pledge dues are $60 and are due at Tapout so please bring money with you!

We love members who are not only active in Alpha Phi Omega, but in other clubs and organizations, so it is possible to rush Alpha Phi Omega and be part of other fraternities and sororities. After the recruitment process (which is a semester-long process), active membership is more relaxed, but requires the following: completing 15 hours between service and finance projects, completing 1 hour of membership projects, completing 1 hour of fellowship projects, attending all required active events and paying active dues. Arrangements can be made.

OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of Alpha Phi Omega shall be to assemble

college students in a national service fraternity in the

fellowship of principles derived from the Scout Oath

and Law of the Boy Scouts of America; to develop

leadership, to promote friendship and to provide service

to humanity; and to further the freedom that is our

national, educational and intellectual heritage.

OATH OF LOYALTY AND SERVICE

“I will do my best to exemplify the principles and to advance the organization of Alpha Phi Omega by taking part in the activities of this fraternity and by obeying the laws of this brotherhood. I furthermore promise that I will give unselfishly of my time and energy, building a program of service for my fraternity, for my college, for the youth of all nations, for my community and

for my nation as a participating citizen.”
